Paraclete is ready for fishing

Two TripleNine members, Irving Kristensen and Jens Thorbek, have been in South Africa to prepare the trawler "Paraclete" for fishing and to train the crew.

"Paraclete" has been renovated internally and rigged with new equipment in Cape Town's container port.

They explain that after arriving in Cape Town from the Canaries, "Paraclete" has been renovated internally. Among other things, the vessel was painted throughout and the tanks were sandblasted.

- The vessel is therefore now okay as indeed is the crew, the two TripleNine fishermen report from South Africa.

They add that, at the time of speaking to 999 NEWS, they were busy teaching the crew to use the new equipment from Denmark and confident that they would soon be successful, as the men are very quick learners.

Thus, it only took two trips to teach them single trawl pelagic fishing and after just a couple of days of fishing, "Paraclete" landed approx. 150 tons of redeye at the factory in St Helena Bay.

All will be well

- Initially, getting the new equipment from Denmark installed on "Paraclete" while moored in Cape Town's container port proved problematic.

It had to be done by crane from the quay, where the distance between the bollards is so small that the trawl could not be spread properly.

- However, we are sure all will be well with "Paraclete", for the crew are very good, Irving Kristensen and Jens Thorbek agree.
