value of the company, which will increase their awareness of the
company's development. 
 
 - In addition to the settling price for the landed raw product,
we're naturally looking at a considerable amount of capital that
will be allotted to the individual members in the form of stock,
CEO Christian Bisgaard notes. - But of course, this also means that
the future stockholders will not only be interested in the amount
of the current settling price of the landed raw products but will
also be very interested in the stock value and the added value
created in the company. 
 
 - That is why the company must continue to develop, and it will be
necessary to exceed the current limits, Christian Bisgaard points
out. 
 
 Three priority areas 
 He sees at least three priority areas in which further progress
can be made for TripleNine. 
 
 Collaboration and consolidation 
 First of all, Christian Bisgaard points toward increased
collaboration and a consolidation within the industry so that the
individual company can achieve a strength that will make it
possible in the future to maintain a solid position in the area
around the North Sea, the Baltic Sea and the Atlantic. 
 
 This will also open up the possibility for production outside of
Scandinavia, e.g. in South America, South Africa and China. 
 
 - The key phrase in this context is "raw product," Christian
Bisgaard states. - What I mean to say is that a fish meal factory
can only be run in the areas in which resources are
available. 
 
 - This can then be combined with placement in near proximity to a
significant market for fish meal, which is the case for China,
where we've got off to a really good start this year with regard to
the export of fish meal, he adds. 
 
 Product development 
 Another priority area is the development of new products. In this
area, Christian Bisgaard sees particularly strong opportunities in
the production of marine phospholipids, which can be used in
capsules as a health food product. 
 
 TripleNine Pharma A/S is ready for production of phospholipids for
human use. 
 
 Additionally, TripleNine is focused on developing new products for
the pet food industry. 
 
 Securing raw product supplies 
 - We also need to make an effort to match the lower production
costs that we're seeing in the Norwegian factories in particular,
Christian Bisgaard continues.

&nbsp;

- Otherwise, we won't be able to compete in the open market for
raw products in which we will find ourselves, once TripleNine
becomes a limited liability company without the supply contracts
that the company has previously had with its cooperative
members. 
 
 - It will be a challenge for us in these times where the tax
squeeze is ever increasing in Denmark. But we're continuously
working to bring down costs so that we can maintain a basis of raw
product for the factory in Thyborøn of over 300,000 tons a year,
says Christian Bisgaard.

 How do we secure the value and growth of
TripleNine? 
 TripleNine Fish Protein is now off to a good start to the final
fiscal year as a cooperative society with supply of raw products at
the same level as last year.

In the course of 2012, it will be necessary for TripleNine Fish
Protein to prepare the transition from a cooperative society to a
limited liability company.

&nbsp;

The reorganization means that the owners - the individual
fisherman - will be in a new situation in which "ownership" takes
on a whole new meaning. From having previously focused entirely on
the settling price, it is now also essential to secure the
development of the value and returns of TripleNine Fish Protein. So
the question is how to develop TripleNine Fish Protein so that the
value of the company is secured and increases over the years to
come. 
 
 Geographical diversification secures supply of raw
product 
 The reliance on the raw product is crucial to the production of
fishmeal and fish oil. That's why it is important to place the
production in areas where the security of supply can be
maintained.

&nbsp;

Therefore, it's important that the future production takes place
in geographically diverse areas to reduce fishery fluctuations. In
this case, I'm thinking of the establishment of production in areas
such as Asia with focus on China, in Africa and in South America as
well as retention of production in Scandinavia of course. In a
situation in which production is carried out in different parts of
the world, the risk of failing fishery is reduced. 
 
 Consolidation is necessary 
 It should be noted that maintaining an economically responsible
production in Scandinavia necessitates a consolidation of the
industry - a consolidation that TripleNine Fish Protein wants to be
part of.

&nbsp;

Moreover, TripleNine Fish Protein must be able to offer fishing
rights to the suppliers - either by renting out fishing rights or
through investment aid to associated vessels that land their haul
for TripleNine Fish Protein.

Increasing demand 
 As far as the need for fish meal and fish oil goes, there are no
problems. However, the prices will fluctuate depending on the
growth of the global economy. But there's no doubt that the demand
for proteins is increasing due to the increasing welfare,
particularly in Asia.

&nbsp;

&nbsp;

As is apparent from the figure, the share of the world's
population that are part of the middle class will increase from
about 25% today to about 40% in 2020 - and about 55% in 2030. This
is where the explanation lies to the increased demand for proteins
and oils, as the growing middle class wants to eat fish, pork or
chicken. 
 Thus the challenge for the industry is to source raw products for
the increasing demand in a responsible and sustainable way that
respects the individual species.

Furthermore, the fishermen who have purchased fuel through the
company will receive an additional payment of 6 øre per
liter. 
 
This is based on annual accounts showing a positive result of 49
million Danish kroner for the group as a whole and about 46 million
kroner after taxes. 
 
Consequently, the group's equity capital exceeds 212 million
kroner. 
 
Satisfactory 
- It's a satisfactory result, especially considering that we've
seen dropping prices on fishmeal throughout the year, says
TripleNine CEO Christian Bisgaard. 
 
- On the other hand, we have also had good supplies of raw product
in the past year, and we're even ending up at a slightly higher
level than the year before, he adds. 
 
Last year as a cooperative society 
Moreover, Christian Bisgaard points out that TripleNine has now
entered its last fiscal year as a cooperative society as the
company will be reorganized as a limited liability company
effective November 1st, 2012, which will naturally influence the
coming year. 
 
Thus a number of strategic decisions must be made with an eye to
preparing the company for the new situation, which, for instance,
involves the fact that the members of the cooperative society do

 Production Manager Lars Skøtt Nielsen states that the schedule
with regard to the establishing of six new raw product silos at the
factory in Thyborøn is being followed. 
 
 As mentioned in the last edition of 999 News, the first two silos
have already been put into use, and all six silos have now been
erected and covered with exterior plates. 
 
 All six silos will be ready in time for the sand eel season.

&nbsp;

A pumping system is ready 
 The new pumping system, which is to transport the raw product from
the piers to the silos, is also progressing according to
plan. 
 
 The pumping system from pier 2 will be ready in time for the sand
eel season while the Redler system from pier 1 will not be replaced
with a pumping system until after the sand eel season. 
 
 Evaporator 3 will also be ready 
 Evaporator 3 will also be operation ready before the sand eel
season. 
 
 A condenser is expected back in late February from a warranty
repair and will be tested in February and March. 
 
 Faster unloading 
 Another pump to the transportation system has been established
from build-up to production. 
 
 This will mean that unloading the raw products from the trucks can
be done faster than before. 
 
 Calm period utilized for maintenance 
 In December and early January, the high activity level experienced
in November has been replaced by a very calm period in the
production with moderate supplies of raw products due to the amount
of wind in this period. 
 
 - Otherwise, the annual maintenance of the entire production

 The director for Thyborøn Harbour, Jørgen Buhl, also wants an
increased depth of water in the Channel. 
 
 - Granted, at this time we have more than the guaranteed 8 metres
of water in the Channel, but when one of the major customers of
Thyborøn Harbour, on whom both the harbour and the city depend,
find an increased depth of water to be necessary, this just
underlines the necessity of our previously stated wish, he
says. 
 
 50 million kroner project 
 - As far back as the so-called Harbour Packet 2, one million
Danish kroner was ear-marked for preliminary studies, and the
project is now included with an estimate of 50 million kroner in
Harbour Packet 3, says Jørgen Buhl. 
 
 He makes it clear that he is an absolute optimist with regard to
getting the project completed. 
 
 - Of course, we're in close contact with the Danish Coastal
Authority about the pro-ject, which, among other things, involves
removing quite a bit of clay down to about 12.5 metres in order to
maintain a water depth of 10 metres. So it's difficult to say how
long it will take for the Danish Coastal Authority to complete the
deepening from the time when we get the green light, says the
harbour director.

Harbour Director Jørgen Buhl is optimistic with regard to
being granted the necessary funds to a deepening of the Thyborøn
Channel.

This was one of the conclusions reached at the latest
strategy meeting held by the Board of TripleNine.

&nbsp;

Below, Anker Mejnertz, Chairman of the Board of TripleNine,
outlines some of the subjects considered at the strategy meeting,
which will be discussed further with the company's shareholders at
the Annual Meeting in December this year.

&nbsp;

The key topic at this year's strategy meeting was TripleNine's
future as a limited company.

&nbsp;

As readers will know, the cooperative TripleNine Fish Protein
will be converted into a limited company from 1 November 2012 and
for some time the Board has discussed the consequences of this in
relation to for instance the opportunities to secure the supply of
raw materials and the development of the company TripleNine in
general.

&nbsp;

Securing access to raw materials

The Board's conclusion is that the most important prerequisite
for a future TripleNine is access to sufficient raw material, i.e.
at least 300,000 tons per year.

&nbsp;

In the cooperative, the shareholders are bound by a five year
supply obligation, which provides the company with a raw material
basis known from year to year.

&nbsp;

This obligation will cease when TripleNine becomes a limited
company. That is why the Board at the strategy meeting discussed
how TripleNine can secure an adequate supply of raw materials in
the future.

&nbsp;

It can be done for instance by:

&nbsp;

<ul>
<li>entering into 1-2 year contracts based on the prices of
fishmeal and fish oil</li>

<li>providing loans to suppliers with fishing quotas as
security</li>

<li>purchasing fishing quotas</li>

<li>ensuring the best possible conditions in Thyborøn for vessels
landing there</li>

<li>guaranteeing adequate capacity during the peak season.</li>
</ul>

&nbsp;

Common to all these possibilities is that further work needs to
be done on them in order for TripleNine to create its own raw
material pool of a reasonable size and not be exclusively dependent
on day-to-day purchases.

&nbsp;

Ensuring value growth for the company

Fundamentally, TripleNine will have to continue to pay the same
price for the fish as other factories, while at the same time
satisfying the shareholders' expectation of a dividend - and
preferably also increased value of their TripleNine shares.

&nbsp;

Initially, most of the TripleNine shareholders will be active
fishermen and therefore probably take an overall view of the
settlement price for fish and the return on their shares.

&nbsp;

However, of course TripleNine cannot expect to be able to buy
fish at less than the market price either in the short or the long
term.

&nbsp;

The necessary added value of the limited company must therefore,
among other things, be created by:

&nbsp;

<ul>
<li>1. Greater efficiency and cost savings</li>

<li>2. Structural development (merger or collaboration with
others)</li>

<li>3. Product development, for instance of products for human
consumption.</li>
</ul>

&nbsp;

&nbsp;

Chairman of the Bord of TripleNine, Anker Mejnertz: - The
Board takes the view that TripleNine A/S must focus strongly on
these areas, as the aim is to be able to pay a competitive price
for the fish while also achieving value growth for the shares in
TripleNine A/S.

&nbsp;

1. Greater efficiency and cost savings

Work is ongoing to reduce costs and the aim is to bring them to
the level of the best in the industry. This implies reducing the
cost per kilo by approx. 10 per cent at the current production
volume and at the same time enabling TripleNine Pharma to - as a
minimum - meet its own costs.

&nbsp;

Our discharging costs are also very high compared with other
North Atlantic factories. This impairs TripleNine's competitiveness
and reduces its ability to attract "outside" fishermen to
Thyborøn.

&nbsp;

2. Structural development and collaboration

A few years ago, TripleNine established a joint venture in South
Africa around the sale of South African fishmeal. Subsequently,
TripleNine has also become involved in fishing with a local
partner. Overall, these activities are a successful enterprise,
which will hopefully develop further in the coming years.

&nbsp;

Since China's ban on fishmeal from Denmark was lifted,
TripleNine has sold fishmeal to China as an alternative to Norway.
The fact that China is by far the largest importer of fishmeal in
the world offers considerable potential.

&nbsp;

China itself has significant fishing for species that can be
used industrially, but the vessels are small and the equipment in
China very poor, which in turn results in poor quality end
products.

&nbsp;

Nonetheless, China is an interesting market, even if it is some
30 years behind technologically, and TripleNine should maintain a
significant focus on the Chinese market while remaining realistic
about the opportunities.

&nbsp;

TripleNine must also participate in the inevitable developments
in our own part of the world.

&nbsp;

&nbsp;

As shown in figure 1, the structure within the industry is
chiefly characterised by the separation of the production capacity
into many small units. Unlike in South America, the structure has
not changed significantly in this part of the world in recent
years.

&nbsp;

In other words, there are too many players and few if any of
them are able to implement a development at the level of the one
going on in Peru and Chile on their own.

&nbsp;

In 2008, Peru introduced a system of individual quotas, which
has led to a consolidation of the industry resulting in larger
units. Today, most of the fishing and fishmeal production is
controlled by five large companies.

&nbsp;

A similar development is underway in Chile, sparked off by the
renegotiation of the quota system due in 2012. From 2010 to 2011,
ten of the large companies have become six as a result of mergers
and collaboration.

&nbsp;

In the Board's view, TripleNine must keep abreast of and
actively participate in the structural development which is bound
to happen among the players around the North Sea.

&nbsp;

3. Product development, for instance of products for
human consumption

Today, TripleNine Pharma is far advanced with the production of
marine phospholipids, which is one of the most sophisticated fish
oil products, with qualities close to those of krill oil.

&nbsp;

&nbsp;

Fig. 2. The figure shows the development in
the sale of krill oil and marine phospholipids (MPL) for human
consumption. As can be seen, the annual growth rates are
practically fabulous.

As shown in figure 2, the sale of marine phospholipids is
expected to have a growth rate of 25 per cent a year until 2015.
However, in terms of volume development, the interest is focused on
the sale of "ordinary" refined fish oil with a high EPA and DHA
content, which so far has had a growth rate of approx. 17 per cent
per year on already large volumes, cf. figure 3, taken from Epax'
Q3-2011 presentation.

200,000 tons of fish oil was used to produce approx. 90,000 tons of
end products in the form of refined fish oil containing EPA and
DHA. The sales growth has been approx. 17 per cent per

Further capital required for development

Once the interest in fish oil for human consumption really
catches on in Asia - especially China - this market is likely to
"explode". The Board strongly believes that TripleNine must
participate in this development in some way.

&nbsp;

That is, however, a major task which requires more capital than
TripleNine can provide itself.

&nbsp;

An important task for the Board in the coming year is therefore
to work on these opportunities.

TripleNine has developed a completely new product line,
which has been named Promega-3, for pet food production. So far,
the new product line comprises eight different varieties, which all
contain only natural ingredients, including easily digestible
proteins and the healthy omega-3 fatty acids.

&nbsp;

TripleNine's Business Development Manager, Kjeld Simonsen, is
behind the development of Promega-3 and also responsible for the
future marketing of this product line on both the Danish and the
international markets.

&nbsp;

- Currently, there is huge interest in giving pets - be they
dogs, cats or the family pony - food which is as healthy as the
family's own and this also applies to for instance functional food,
explains Kjeld Simonsen. - All over the world, and especially in
the US, people are very keen to provide healthy food for the
four-legged family friends as well, containing for instance good,
easily digestible proteins and omega-3 fatty acids, whose positive
qualities for growth and health for both people and animals have
long been well-documented.

&nbsp;

The name Promega-3 is therefore a contraction of the words
protein and omega-3.

&nbsp;

Only natural ingredients in Promega-3

As these particular ingredients are found in TripleNine
fishmeal, Kjeld Simonsen in August 2010 began investigating the pet
food market more closely. After a positive conclusion, the
development of the new product line for pet food on the basis of
fishmeal began in February 2011.

&nbsp;

- It is crucial to pet food producers that the end product
contains only natural ingredients and natural anti-oxidants and
Promega-3 meets these particular requirements, says Kjeld Simonsen.
- Another market requirement is that the end product originates
from sustainable production, which TripleNine can also document
through the company's various certifications, for instance in
relation to traceability and sustainability.

&nbsp;

Now TripleNine therefore has three legs to stand on. In addition
to the already familiar products for use in, respectively,
aquaculture feed and feed for piglets and calves, the company now
also offers products for use in the pet food industry.

&nbsp;

- This naturally represents a strategic strengthening of the
company, Kjeld Simonsen concludes.

&nbsp;

Great market interest

- We have been introducing Promega-3 on the relevant markets
since February this year and we are already experiencing
significant interest in the new product line, especially on the
American market, says Kjeld Simonsen.

&nbsp;

He believes that it is only a matter of a short time before he
can report that the first actual order has been received.

&nbsp;

- However, although we have got a long way and are close to a
successful introduction, both product development and market
development will continue, Kjeld Simonsen stresses.

Kjeld Simonsen informs that trademark registration of
Promega-3 has already been obtained in Denmark and is pending in
the EU and North America.

Now the new government has stimulated growth - by introducing a
new tax which will not make it any easier to operate an
energy-heavy fishing company in fringe Denmark.

This means that the tax on NOx emissions will increase fivefold,
on top of the already unreasonable energy taxes.

The blow will hit the entire industry, but Minister for Taxation
Thor Möger Pedersen cannot see a problem - "Even if the NOx tax
results in job losses, the government's overall budget will create
more jobs"!

We will just have to hope that these jobs will also be created
in fringe Denmark.

It is not exactly taxes we need to keep the wheels turning, but
we cannot make ourselves heard. At some point enough will be enough
and the total bill will mean that what Danish factories can pay for
fish is not competitive for the fishermen compared with landing
their fish in, for instance, Norway. Then the basis of the Danish
fishmeal factories will quietly disappear.

&nbsp;

<h1>Natura 2000</h1>

&nbsp;

However, the taxes introduced by both the conservative and
socialist factions are not the only challenges facing the
industry.

England, Holland and Germany are in the process of classifying a
significant part of Doggerbanke as a Natura 2000 area. Neither the
area nor the associated fishing limitations have been determined
yet, but there is no doubt that it will have a negative effect of
sand eel fishing in the future.

&nbsp;

<h1>2012 quotas</h1>

&nbsp;

The negotiations with Norway are starting at the time of
writing, so nothing specific can be said, but the trend is
clear.

The sprat quota for the Baltic Sea has been agreed and the
result is a 22 per cent reduction.

The proposal for the sprat quota for the North Sea is a
reduction of 25 per cent.

The proposal for the Norway spout quota is 0 (yes zero), albeit
with an option of re-evaluation in May and August.

&nbsp;

The industry is expecting a politically determined sand eel
start quota of 200,000 tons, which during 2012 will be replaced by
a final quota when the results of the sand eel dredging expeditions
have been analysed. The dredging expeditions will be carried out in
November and December 2011.

&nbsp;

This year, the industry has co-funded a major population
investigation of mullet (also known as trumpeter). The
investigations will continue, but the result of the first one
suggests a large population, which has made ICES recommend that the
quota for 2012 is almost tripled.

If the population assessment turns out to be accurate, mullet
will be a species landed in ever increasing volumes, with the
resultant challenges for factories and customers.

At this stage - and overall - nothing suggests increased quotas
for Denmark in 2012 compared with 2011.

&nbsp;

<h1>Nothing new under the sun</h1>

&nbsp;

Sadly there is nothing new in the above. Fortunately, this
industry is used to a contrary wind, but it would be nice to have a
fair wind occasionally!

After various problems during the Norway spout trial
fishing, the grate demanded by the Danish authorities seems to be
working.

&nbsp;

This information is provided by the Chairman of the South West
Jutland Fishing Association, Jesper Juul Larsen.

&nbsp;

The trial fishing was jointly commissioned by the Danish
Fishmeal Association, the Danish fishmeal factories and the Danish
Fishing Association and carried out by fisherman and skipper Jens
Thorbek of Thyborøn on "Pernille Kim" with Thorvald Børsmose as
scientific consultant.

&nbsp;

- Getting the grate to work was quite difficult, explains Jesper
Juul Larsen. - Among other things, "dead water" was created in the
trawl during the first trials and the practical handling of the
grate also caused problems. However, all problems now seem to have
been overcome and we have learned how to handle the equipment.

&nbsp;

- We are therefore very confident and almost ready to say that
it works as it should, concludes Jesper Juul Larsen, who adds that
an underwater camera has recently been purchased in order to follow
exactly what actually happens around the grate during fishing.

&nbsp;

At pistol point

- However, it was a close call, he adds. - The grate trials have
been going on for three, four, five years without good results
until we were held at pistol point by the Danish authorities last
year. The clear indication was that we would not be allowed to fish
Norway spout unless we use a grate which works as intended.

&nbsp;

- It is therefore good to be able to say that we have now
developed a grate which we can handle and which effectively
separates at least whiting and haddock, while also to a large
extent almost all other species from the Norway spout.

&nbsp;

However, Jesper Juul Larsen emphasises that there is always room
for improvement, why it is important to leave "room for
development" in the new government order concerning Norway
spout.

&nbsp;

He also points out that although the grate is working, this is
not the same as getting a quota.

&nbsp;

- So far, the recruitment is not looking very promising, so the
current advice is that there will be no quota, he says. - However,
the advice will be reassessed twice before fishing can hopefully
start in September 2012.

&nbsp;

TripleNine's Managing Director, Christian Bisgaard, is also
pleased that the technical obstacles to Norway spout fishing appear
to have been overcome and he very much hopes that this fishing will
again be allowed, as it is very important to both TripleNine and
the company's suppliers.

varieties for use in pet food production.

Kjeld Simonsen has previously worked for many years as sales and
export manager of various companies, followed by two years as the
managing director of a subsidiary of a large Danish company. For
the last seven years, he has been managing director of his own
company.

In 1991-1995, Kjeld Simonsen lived in the US, where he worked as

regularly assessed, which has in fact resulted in our decision not
to continue EMAS certification, Henrik Sørensen says.

The rapidly growing Chinese market has shown great
interest in TripleNine and the company's products. Thus, two
representatives of TripleNine have just been invited to be keynote
speakers at two major conferences in China.

&nbsp;

In early September, Business Development Manager Yanqi Zhang
Larsen once again travelled around China to visit TripleNine's
partners and get to know them better.

&nbsp;

- Of course, this also results in the Chinese getting to know us
better and becoming familiar with our products and what we
represent, for instance within the environmental area, she says. -
The Chinese know that we are far advanced with regard to
environmentally friendly production and that we produce top quality
fishmeal.

&nbsp;

This is also why both Yanqi Zhang Larsen and Managing Director
Christian Bisgaard were invited to participate in two major
conferences in China as keynote speakers.

&nbsp;

&nbsp;

Yanqi Zhang Larsen spoke on "View on Fishmeal and Fish Oil
Production and Trade in Europe" at the China Fishmeal and Fish Oil
Association's Annual Conference on 6 and 7 September, while
Christian Bisgaard spoke on "Changes on World Fishmeal Trade
Market" at the JCI Autumn Conference on China Feed Market on 8 and
9 September.

&nbsp;

&nbsp;

Large market - with extensive fish farming

The Chinese feed product market is almost inconceivably large
and rapidly growing.

&nbsp;

China accounts for more than 60 per cent of all the world's pigs
and more than half of all the world's farmed fish.

&nbsp;

- The Chinese farm many different fish species and prawns - but
not salmon, the species for which our fishmeal is specially
developed, and the farming is not yet as intensive as on other
markets, explains Christian Bisgaard. - However, the Chinese fish
farming will become increasingly intensive as the demand on the
world market increases and then our products with their high
protein content will really be needed.

&nbsp;

- Today, fishmeal with a protein content of 72 per cent is
completely new to the Chinese, but in just one or two years, this
quality will be needed if the fish farmers are to keep up with the
demand, Christian Bisgaard predicts. - Until then, we have to work
on becoming known on the market and finding the types of fishmeal
which suit the different segments on the market today.

&nbsp;

- It is therefore positive to observe that the Chinese are very
interested in both our company and our products, says Christian
Bisgaard.

&nbsp;

Also genuine purchase interest

When Yanqi Zhang Larsen revisited China in early September, she
made contact with many new potential customers with a genuine
interest in purchasing fishmeal from TripleNine.

&nbsp;

- Our quality is higher than the Chinese are used to, but
fortunately some feed producers understand the advantage of this
and are prepared to pay, she says.

&nbsp;

- It is also good to see that our old customers, who bought from
us in the 1990s, were so satisfied that they are now coming back
and want to buy from us again. I therefore think we have had a very
good new start in China, Yanqi Zhang Larsen concludes.

TripleNine and the Port of Esbjerg have reached a
settlement in the case concerning the use of the ESSI buildings in
the Fishing Port.

&nbsp;

Anker Mejnertz, Chairman of the Board of TripleNine, explains
that an important element of the settlement is that the threat of
having to demolish the buildings has now been removed.

&nbsp;

The settlement comprises two other main elements:

&nbsp;

1. Agreement of a reasonable rent and a broader
usage A reasonable rent for the site and any buildings has
now been agreed for the future - also in relation to any buyer of
the buildings.

&nbsp;

The existing lease states that the ESSI buildings must be used
for processing edible fish, while the new agreement allows the
buildings and associated site to be used for port-related
purposes.

&nbsp;

2. Agreement concerning start of use

The other main element in the settlement is that TripleNine will
work to ensure that the site and buildings are put to use as soon
as possible in accordance with the new usage clause, i.e. for
port-related purposes.

&nbsp;

This may be done by TripleNine using the buildings and site
itself or by finding an interested buyer/tenant who fulfils the
purpose.

&nbsp;

Buildings and site are available for
sale/rental

- We are satisfied with the settlement, Anker Mejnertz confirms.
- After all, we fundamentally have the same interest as the Port in
the site and buildings being put to sensible use and we will do
everything we can to comply with our part of the settlement.

&nbsp;

- The buildings and site have therefore already been offered for
sale/rental and interested parties are welcome to contact Ejgil
Knudsen, Managing Director of ESSI, for further information, says
Anker Mejnertz.

&nbsp;

- I hope that the Port will collaborate with us on a sale of the
buildings and we would also be delighted if the Port were to refer
an interested buyer/tenant to us, he adds.

&nbsp;

Wish for a normalised relationship

- I am pleased that we can put this dispute behind us, Anker
Mejnertz concludes. - As already mentioned, we and the Port are
working towards the same goal, which was also stated in the
arbitration case. We both want the site and buildings to be put to
sensible use, so our wishes are fundamentally the same. Why
therefore waste money on expensive valuations and further legal
costs, which would be the result of continuing the arbitration
case? By the settlement now reached, both parties have achieved
what we actually wanted.

&nbsp;

&nbsp;

- My hope is now that the mistrust between the parties in recent
years will soon be removed, so that we can establish a normalised,
positive relationship with the Port of Esbjerg for the future, says
Anker Mejnertz.

&nbsp;

Happy with the settlement

Flemming Enevoldsen, Chairman of the Board of the Port of
Esbjerg, agrees with these views.

&nbsp;

- The last thing the Port wants is to get into conflict with our
site tenants. Conversely, we also have a legitimate wish to ensure
that the port areas are put to sensible use, particularly at a time
when the port is developing rapidly and there is a genuine shortage
of areas for the future activities, says Flemming Enevoldsen. - It
has therefore always been important to us that the ESSI buildings
and the associated site are put to use again quickly and are used
for port-related activities.

&nbsp;

- I can therefore only be satisfied with the settlement reached,
which is the specific aim of both parties and we at the Port are
keen to re-establish a good future working relationship with
TripleNine, Flemming Enevoldsen concludes.

&nbsp;

Background to ESSI

&nbsp;

How it started - and ended.

&nbsp;

In the 1980s, around 700,000 tons of industrial fish were landed
in Esbjerg every year.

&nbsp;

In the period 1985-1987, the prices of industrial fish were
almost halved and the fishermen were also under political pressure.
The focus was on the destruction of edible fish and after Denmark
joined the EEC, herring could only be fished for consumption.
Traditionally, large quantities of herring had been processed into
fishmeal in Esbjerg.

&nbsp;

The fishmeal factories in Esbjerg therefore initiated a
strategic decision to diversify the suppliers' activities.

&nbsp;

Extensive local support

In 1987, the fishermen decided to build a herring fillet
factory. This initiative attracted great local interest and was
financially supported by important circles in the town. The
factory, which was named ESSI, was finished in spring 1988.

&nbsp;

Suspension of payments

ESSI was in financial difficulties from the start. The prices of
industrial fish had improved again and local suppliers showed
minimal interest in herring fishing. The supplies from foreign
vessels were also inadequate. By autumn 1989, the share capital of
DKK 17 million had been lost.

&nbsp;

In February 1990, ESSI merged with two North Jutland herring
fillet factories (HirtshalsFiskeeksport and Danfisk, Skagen). The
new name was ESSI Danfisk A/S. However, after a few months of
operation, the company had to suspend payments.

&nbsp;

Reconstruction

The fishmeal factory contributed DKK 10 million to the factory
and a reconstruction was implemented, allowing 20 Esbjerg vessels
to supply herring to the factory. The suppliers were closely tied
to the factory financially, as they had to pay DKK 250,000 for a
share certificate. In addition, reserve funds of a further DKK
500,000 were to be established.

&nbsp;

In this way, a strong basis was established for ESSI and in 1994
the factory was able to repay the last instalments of the DKK 10
million loan made by the fishmeal factory in 1990.

&nbsp;

Market under pressure

Through the 1990s, the herring market was under constant
pressure. There were too many factories for too few fish and the
earnings basis was poor. Virtually all Danish herring fillet
factories achieved unsatisfactory financial results.

&nbsp;

Nonetheless, supplying to ESSI must be said to have been a good
investment for the fishermen. At times, the demand was so great
that waiting lists of interested cutter owners had to be
established.

&nbsp;

Conflicts of interest

At the start of the new millennium, discussions were initiated
about a new regulation method and ITQs - individually negotiable
quotas. These discussions led to conflicts of interest between the
shareholders, which combined with the poor market conditions
brought the factory into financial difficulties again.

&nbsp;

Many shareholders now cancelled their supply contracts. The
board of directors, which previously consisted exclusively of
shareholders, was expanded with external members, but this did not
bring about agreement and financial stability.

&nbsp;

Production stop

In 2003, the company was restructured and a new management was
appointed. Although the financial result after the first year of
operation was satisfactory, the following year ended with a huge
deficit of about DKK 20 million. The subsequent years produced
equally unsatisfactory results.

&nbsp;

In March 2007, the fishmeal factory TripleNine acquired the
ailing company ESSI. The buildings were valued at DKK 25 million
and the equipment at DKK 17 million.

&nbsp;

In March 2008, the company entered into an agreement with
Skagerrak Fiskeeksport about a merger, with Skagerrak continuing
the operation and the equipment in Esbjerg being dismantled.

&nbsp;

The fishmeal factory TripleNine retained ownership of the now
empty buildings.

&nbsp;

Conflict and settlement

When it proved impossible to reach agreement with the Port of
Esbjerg concerning use or sale of the buildings, the Port demanded
clearance and return of the site, which TripleNine refused. The
matter was then passed to settlement by arbitration.

&nbsp;

The arbitration case started in spring 2011 and after initial
negotiations, the parties have now reached a settlement.

&nbsp;

&nbsp;

ESSI buildings available for
sale/rental

&nbsp;

TripleNine wishes to find a tenant or buyer for the ESSI
buildings as soon as possible, which is also the intention behind
the settlement just reached with the Port of Esbjerg.

&nbsp;

Ejgil Knudsen, Managing Director of ESSI A/S, is delighted that
the conflict with the Port of Esbjerg has now been resolved, so
that progress can be made.

&nbsp;

- In the interim, we have had enquiries about sale or rental of
the buildings, which have been difficult to handle while we were in
dispute with the Port, he says.

&nbsp;

&nbsp;

- Now that a settlement has been reached in the case, we are
able to enter into a constructive dialogue with potential buyers or
tenants of the ESSI buildings. They are located by Tampenkaj, which
has now been dredged to a water depth of 9.3 metres, explains Ejgil
Knudsen.

&nbsp;

&nbsp;

- What used to be the fourth basin of the Fishing Port, has now
been filled in right up to the old Krøjkaj, creating approx. 40,000
m2 of land immediately adjacent to the ESSI buildings. This should
therefore be an attractive offer, with direct access to the quay
and a large port area, he adds.

&nbsp;

&nbsp;

Managing Director Ejgil Knudsen here shows ESSI's large, light
production hall, which together with storage spaces covers 6,209
m2. In addition, the buildings comprise 854 m2 of service rooms,
etc., 580 m2 of offices, a 208 m2 basement and a 1.184 m2
un-insulated storage hall.

of their remarkably positive effect on human health, we have great
expectations of this production in future, concludes Christian
Bisgaard. - The entire production plant is established, so we are
ready to produce phospholipids for human consumption, similar to
the fish oil capsules familiar today.

- We are now waiting for the sprat fishing in the North Sea to
get underway as it usually does already in August. Later on, sprat

and fish oil since 2001, as the Chinese feared the transfer of BSE
due to the presence of bone meal in the fishmeal.

- So the fight which has now been won has lasted almost ten
years, says Yanqi Zhang Larsen.

Potential partners have already been
visited

Things really got moving after a delegation of Chinese
food inspectors in September visited TripleNine in Thyborøn and
Esbjerg as well as the other Danish factories.

&nbsp;

&nbsp;

In September, a delegation of Chinese food inspectors
visited TripleNine in Esbjerg and Thyborøn together with
representatives of the Danish Embassy in Beijing. Their report
paved the way for the opening of the Chinese market.

&nbsp;

- The delegation found our plants and all our safety procedures
in perfect order. This greatly advanced our efforts to get
permission to export our products to China, says Yanqi Zhang
Larsen.

&nbsp;

In anticipation of permission being granted, she and Christian
Bisgaard, Managing Director of TripleNine, have already been to
China to visit selected potential customers and partners.

&nbsp;

- During our visit to China, I also participated in two
important conferences about the Chinese market and that only
reinforced my view that China is an incredibly important market
with enormous potential, especially within the feed industry, where
fishmeal is used primarily to produce feed for fish farming and
piglet breeding, explains Yanqi Zhang Larsen.

&nbsp;

Quality and environment

&nbsp;

- It is a market with huge growth potential and a particular
need for high quality fishmeal, emphasises Yanqi Zhang Larsen.

&nbsp;

She reports that China imported 1.3 million tons of fishmeal in
2009 and is expecting to import about 1 million tons in 2010.

&nbsp;

- We should have a good chance of entering and establishing
ourselves on the market, Yanqi Zhang Larsen continues. - While the
fishmeal imported today only has a protein content of 55-65 per
cent, our fishmeal has a protein content of 72 per cent and is much
more digestible.

&nbsp;

- However, the fishmeal quality itself is not the only decisive
factor, she adds. - Today, it is very important to the Chinese that
production is environmentally correct and in that respect we
definitely have an edge on our competitors on the world market.

Chinese representatives were given a detailed introduction to
TripleNine's production of fishmeal and fish oil as well as to
stock management, sampling, laboratory examinations, etc.

CEO Christian Bisgaard: - Entering into a joint venture with
DBN means that we will be producing fishmeal and fish oil on the
world's largest market for these products.

&nbsp;

- It was a very good and positive visit, which, among other
things, resulted in an agreement with the Chinese to form a joint
venture between DBN and TripleNine for the purpose of producing
fishmeal and fish oil in China, says Christian Bisgaard.

- DBN will be able to benefit from our experience as producers
of high quality fishmeal and fish oil, while we will be producing
fishmeal and fish oil on the world's largest market for these
products.

With a feed production of approx. two million tons in 2010, DBN
- Beijing Dabeinong Technologies Groups Co. Ltd - is one of China's
largest feed producers and the largest producer of feed for
piglets.

Executive Secretary Annette Munch
has decided to take early retirement from 1
September this year.

- After 17 years in the same position - under various managers -
I believe my time has come to call it a day and enjoy my
retirement, says Annette Munch who had her first grandchildren in
February in the form of twins - a boy and a girl.

&nbsp;

- I would like to spend more time with them and to help their
parents as much as I can, now that I am able to do so, she
says.

&nbsp;

There is no risk that Annette will be bored. In addition to
gardening, she has a number of hobbies and pursues various sports,
such as tennis and badminton. Of course she also hunts!

&nbsp;

- The job as executive secretary has been interesting and
enjoyable, says TripleNine's co-ordinator par excellence. - It is a
very varied and central position, which allows you to keep abreast
of the entire company, though it is not always possible to plan
your day. I will of course miss all this, but I nonetheless look
forward to the next epoch of my life.

&nbsp;

Annette Munch is going on holiday before her official
retirement, so her last working day at TripleNine will be Tuesday
26 July.

Satisfactory landings

So far, the fishing for sand eel has been good this year and
satisfactory quantities of raw material have been supplied to
TripleNine.

&nbsp;

Although we had hoped for a total quota of approx. 400,000 tons,
the Danish quota of 334,324 tons should provide TripleNine with the
raw materials that we need.

&nbsp;

First of all, the agreed quota means that it has been possible
to continue the fishing in May - without interruptions as was the
case last year.

&nbsp;

It will, however, be interesting to see the outcome of the new
division of the North Sea into smaller areas, which may each be
subject to regulation.

&nbsp;

In April this year, the quantity of sand eel landed at the
factory in Thyborøn was twice as large as last year and the good
fishing continued during the first two weeks of May. I therefore
hope that the landings in May will be comparable to last
year's.

&nbsp;

New members

The larger landings received by TripleNine are above all due to
the recruitment of six new members this year and the supply of
considerable quantities of raw material by so-called "free"
vessels, i.e. vessels that are not owned by members.

&nbsp;

The fishing has also been good for the established members.

&nbsp;

Declining world market price

However, it is not only in the North Sea that the fishing has
been good this year.

&nbsp;

In Peru, where fishing started at the beginning of April, the
fishing has also been good.

&nbsp;

Here, a quota of 3.7 million tons was allocated for April to
July and more than half of the quota has already been used.

&nbsp;

This means that very large quantities of fishmeal and fish oil
have been distributed on the world market, where the demand only
started to take off in May with the usual increased demand from the
Chinese fish farmers.

&nbsp;

The natural result of this is that the prices of both fishmeal
and fish oil have been under pressure, which in turn is reflected
in declining raw material prices across the sand eel season.
Nonetheless, the raw material price is still historically high.

&nbsp;

During the first two weeks of May, the world market price of
fishmeal reached a bottom level, from which it is expected to rise
slightly.

&nbsp;

Large sales of fish oil

Currently, large quantities of fish oil are being bought by
traders for the purpose of resale.

&nbsp;

This naturally pushes up the price and also reflects the
expectation of increasing prices on the world market.

&nbsp;

I therefore expect the price of fish oil to return to the price
level of rapeseed oil, as it ought to do, since these two products
can be directly substituted in the production of mixed feed.

&nbsp;

In addition, we can hope that the dollar will adjust in keeping
with the trend that we have already observed.

&nbsp;

Finally, I wish all readers of 999 NEWS a good summer and hope
that fishing will continue to be good for TripleNine's members.

because, by then, we will also have access to catches from
Swedish-owned vessels registered in Denmark."

"We will also be able to bid for sand eel catches at the
Norwegian auctions," adds Bisgaard. "Best of all, however, in
recent weeks we have gained six new shareholders, four from Hvide
Sande and two from Thyborøn. I am convinced, therefore, that we can
achieve at least the same quantities of raw materials in May this
year as we did last year.

&nbsp;

- but at lower prices

"During the past month, fishmeal prices on the global market
have fallen, which was to be expected," explains Bisgaard. "The
fall in prices is due to the fact that the fishing season in Peru
starts on April 1, whereas temperature levels in China aren't
suitable for aquaculture until May. This has meant the supply of
fishmeal on the world market during the past month has been
increasing, which of course puts pressure on prices. At TripleNine,
we have reduced our settlement price accordingly."

"I am convinced that we can achieve at least the same quantities
of raw materials this May as we did last year," concludes CEO

"Paraclete" has been renovated internally and rigged with
new equipment in Cape Town's container port.

They explain that after arriving in Cape Town from the Canaries,
"Paraclete" has been renovated internally. Among other things, the
vessel was painted throughout and the tanks were sandblasted.

&nbsp;

- The vessel is therefore now okay as indeed is the crew, the
two TripleNine fishermen report from South Africa.

They add that, at the time of speaking to 999 NEWS, they were
busy teaching the crew to use the new equipment from Denmark and
confident that they would soon be successful, as the men are very
quick learners.

Thus, it only took two trips to teach them single trawl pelagic
fishing and after just a couple of days of fishing, "Paraclete"
landed approx. 150 tons of redeye at the factory in St Helena
Bay.

&nbsp;

All will be well

- Initially, getting the new equipment from Denmark
installed on "Paraclete" while moored in Cape Town's container port
proved problematic.

It had to be done by crane from the quay, where the distance
between the bollards is so small that the trawl could not be spread
properly.

- However, we are sure all will be well with "Paraclete", for
the crew are very good, Irving Kristensen and Jens Thorbek
agree.

also been fine, even though the quota is tight and has almost been
fished now. Together with the sprat fishing, they have produced a
good overall flow in the fishing, which has benefited both the
fishermen and the factory, says Erik Bonde Pedersen.

- Approx. 40,000 tons of sprat remains of the quota and they
need to be fished before Christmas, as sprat in theory cease to
exist afterwards!

- Taking into account that sensible prices have been paid for
the catches throughout the year, it has been a good year for
industrial fishing, but then, this was sorely needed, concludes
Erik Bonde Pedersen.
